Tuesday, February 7, 2012 - Looking at the AP Exam Argument Essay.
  1. Read the handout about how to approach the argument essay on the AP exam. Highlight and take notes in the margins. As you read consider what the most important tips are for doing well on the essay. This will be a grade (many of you need it because you are currently failing, so don't waste time). You will have 20 minutes to do this.
  2. Now you will create a quick tip sheet that students can use as a guide/study sheet when writing the argument essay. It must be completed by the end of class. This is something that we will want to use as we practice for the AP exam and possibly share with other teachers to use in  their classrooms. The best will receive a 100, 2nd place a 95, third a 90, 4th an 85, and so on.
Assignment Guidelines:
  1. Must be created on google docs
  2. No more than 1 page.
  3. Should be concise: no more than 375 words.
  4. Use the topic headings in the handout as a guide.
  5. Must be written in your words - do not copy chunks from the handout.
  6. Should reflect a deep understanding of the handout content.
  7. Should show your ability to analyze (break down the content), interpret (understand) the content, and synthesize what you have learned into your own unique product.
You will present your guide to Ms Woollven on Friday.
We will discuss chapter 4 on Thursday - you must have your book and comments must include a reference to a specific content.
